About Dr. Katherine Wonneberger Gardner (Joining Early 2025)

Dr. Katherine Wonneberger Gardner is an esteemed physician who earned her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2013. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Pulmonary Medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in 2019.

Dr. Gardner brings several years of experience, having served as faculty at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and worked at the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. She will be joining Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists of Piedmont Northeast in early 2025 and lead our new office location in Monroe, GA in partnership with Piedmont Health System and Piedmont clinic.

Her professional interests include management of obstructive lung diseases, interstitial lung disease, and post-COVID-19 care. Dr. Gardner has been actively involved in clinical research, serving as a co-investigator on multicenter studies related to COVID-19.

Dr. Gardner is committed to medical education, having developed curricula for medical trainees and served as an instructor for medical students. She has also contributed to global health initiatives through her work in Botswana and Haiti.

Throughout her career, Dr. Gardner has demonstrated innovation in patient care, including the development of a Post-Covid Dyspnea Clinic and a mobile pulmonary function test initiative. She is particularly passionate about improving population health, increasing access to healthcare, and enhancing medical processes to better serve diverse patient populations.
