About Dr. Mazin Shaikhoun

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Mazin Shaikhoun to our pulmonary practice! As a triple board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Shaikhoun brings a global perspective to our team. His medical foundation spans four countries—Sudan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and the United States—allowing him to navigate diverse patient populations with innate empathy and cultural fluency.

Dr. Shaikhoun graduated from Al-Neelain University School of Medicine in Khartoum, Sudan. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and his fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at Albany Medical College in New York. During his fellowship, he was honored as the “Fellow Teacher of the Year” (2024-2025), a prestigious award presented by Albany Medical College.

Dr. Shaikhoun is a compassionate clinician who prioritizes collaborative patient care. He specializes in pulmonary pathologies (acute and chronic lung diseases) and has expertise in pulmonary diagnostics, including bronchoscopy, robotic-assisted bronchoscopy, and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS).
